Lasix (furosemide) is a loop diuretic (water pill) that prevents your body from absorbing too much salt, allowing the salt to instead be passed in your urine. Lasix treats fluid retention (edema) in people with congestive heart failure, liver disease, or a kidney disorder such as nephrotic syndrome. This medication is also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lasix may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide, for such uses, consult your doctor.
How to consume
When you buy Lasix online, take the pills in exactly the same dosage and as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Do not forget to follow the directions on your prescription label as well. Measure liquid Lasix with a special dose-measuring spoon or medicine cup, not with a regular table spoon. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one. Lasix will make you urinate more often and you may get dehydrated easily. Follow your doctor's instructions about using potassium supplements or getting enough salt and potassium in your diet. To be sure Lasix is not causing harmful effects, your blood will need to be tested often. Your kidney or liver function may also need to be tested. Visit your doctor regularly. If you are being treated for high blood pressure, keep using this medication even if you feel fine. High blood pressure often has no symptoms.
try not to miss any dose as suggested by the doctor and if you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, or if it is too late, skip the missed dose and continue with your routine dose at the next scheduled time. In the condition where you have doubt of consuming an overdose, instantly contact your doctor or the local poison centre as an overdose can prove to be extremely harmful. High doses of Lasix have been reported to cause irreversible hearing loss.
Encounter with other drugs
Make sure the doctor knows about all the other drugs you use. If you take sucralfate (carafate), take it 2 hours before or after lasix. This is the list of a few of many medications which may encounter with lasix and cause harmful drug interactions: An antibiotic such as amikacin (Amikin), gentamicin (Garamycin), kanamycin (Kantrex); Heart or blood pressure medication such as benazepril (Lotensin), candesartan (Atacand); Salicylates such as aspirin, Disalcid, Doan's Pills and others; Cancer medicine (chemotherapy); Diet pills or cold medicine; Steroids (prednisone and others); A laxative (Metamucil, Milk of Magnesia, Colace, Dulcolax, Epsom salts etc); An antibiotic such as cefdinir (Omnicef), cefprozil (Cefzil), cefuroxime (Ceftin). The list may not be including all the other drugs that may encounter with Lasix to cause harmful drug interactions, like negating or exaggerating the effect of Lasix and hence making the usual side effects more potent, so let your doctor know about all the other medication you use like prescription, non prescription, herbal or multivitamins. Also start or stop using any drug with your doctor's recommendation only.
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction to Lasix:Light headedness; Sensitivity to sunlight; Calf pain or tenderness; Ringing in the ears; Hearing decrease or loss; Vomiting, or dizziness; Severe or persistent nausea; Muscle pain/cramps/weakness; Unusual bleeding or bruising; Unusual thirst or hunger; Unusual tiredness or weakness; Fast or irregular heartbeat; Yellowing of the skin or eyes; Shortness of breath; Vein inflammation; Decreased or persistent increased urination; Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue). Although the side effects usually are not that serious if you follow the doctor's instructions while taking Lasix but still never ignore any side effects even if a small or minor one and tell your doctor about anything unusual while using Lasix, also discuss about all the possible side effects to avoid any harm to the body.
